Military Outreach and Sponsorship Opportunities

The Reno-Tahoe Open saluted the troops in 2011 and created a variety of special military-themed events surrounding the Reno-Tahoe Open to benefit the men and women in our armed forces and the Nevada Military Support Alliance (NMSA). The Nevada Military Support Alliance for the second year in a row was the selected philanthropic platform and benefited from the variety of fundraising activities of the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation.

To learn more about the military outreach and the variety of special events relating to the Salute to Troops, please contact the Reno-Tahoe Open at 775.322.3900 or email us.  We also encourage you to visit the Nevada Military Support Alliance website to learn more about their outstanding cause.

Foundation Overview

The Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation has been able to grow its charitable giving to a total of $2.2 million since its inception in 1999.  Calculations of charitable giving in 2011 totaled over $218,000 alone. The Foundation intention is to give back even more  to local nonprofits and the Washoe County School District through its two donation programs, Chip in For Schools and Birdies for Charity®.

Continuing our promise to Salute the Troops, the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation was also proud to bring back the variety of military activities that occur on-site at the Reno-Tahoe Open and continue the partnership with the Nevada Military Support Alliance.

Birdies for Charity® overview

Birdies For Charity® is a wonderful way for nonprofit organizations to raise even more money for their needs, by utilizing the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation and the popularity of the PGA TOUR to help their cause. Much like a walk-a-thon, nonprofit organizations seek pledges per-birdie achieved at the 2012 Reno-Tahoe Open. The Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation invoices the donors on your behalf and handles all administration and sends you a check after the 2012 event wraps. Flat donations are also encouraged!

Here is how Birdies For Charity® works:

1.)    Contact the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation by calling 775.853.6809 or email us at BirdiesForCharity@RenoTahoeOpen.com and inform us that you would like to count birdies at the 2012 Reno-Tahoe Open.

2.)    Participaing nonprofits collect pledges, either a flat donation amount or an amount based per-birdie achieved at the 2012 Reno-Tahoe Open, and submits this information to the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation. For instance, if you pledge $.01 per birdie achieved in 2012 and 2,000 birdies were achieved throughout tournament week, you would be billed for $20.00. It’s a fun way to help charity while you have fun birdie-counting!

3.)    After the tournament your donors will be billed for the amount they have pledged, 100% of which will benefit the charity.

US Bank’s Chip in For Schools Overview

The Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation is proud to announce the successful return of the US Bank's Chip in For Schools program in 2012. An outstanding success over the past 2 years with over $30,000 raised for area schools and their programs, this fundraiser returns in 2012 to help area school children earn much-needed funds for their school programs. This program has been approved by the Washoe County School District and registration is open NOW! Contact the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation charities office today by calling 775.853.6809 or email ChipInForSchools@RenoTahoeOpen.com.

Use the area’s only PGA TOUR event, to fundraise and keep 100% of the proceeds! Furthermore, children participating in the Chip in For Schools program have the least expensive ticket available, just $15 per ticket as opposed to $20 online or at the gate.

Here is how US Bank's Chip in For Schools works:

1.)    A school or school program registers to be a part of this fundraising program by contacting Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation at 775.853.6809 or email us at ChipInForSchools@RenoTahoeOpen.com. The 2012 Chip in For Schools program is now accepting registrations!

2.)    The school programs are then asked their fundraising goals and how many tickets to the 2012 Reno-Tahoe Open they believe they could sell at the reduced rate of $15 per Good Any Day general admission ticket.  The school programs are then provided vouchers that they could then use to sell and fundraise, receiving 100% of the proceeds!

3.)    The program ended in July, just prior to the start of the Reno-Tahoe Open (July 30-August 05, 2012).

4.)    Once all money is received, the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation writes the schools a check for 100% of the amount they have earned!

We at the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation are so excited about this program because everybody wins – the children earn much-needed funds for their school programs, the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation is able to give back to local programs and increase attendance, and you win by being able to purchase reduced price tickets to this PGA TOUR event while helping local school children. We thank US Bank for its ongoing support of this program and their dedication to education in our community.
