Birdies for Charity
What is Birdies for Charity®?
Birdies for Charity® is a fundraising program that entails individuals and businesses making a pledge per-birdie made at the Reno-Tahoe Open (or making a flat donation) to the participating charity of your choice.
In 2010 there were over 1600 birdies made at the Reno-Tahoe Open, meaning even a $.25 donation per-birdie would have equaled over $400 for your favorite participating charitable organization! How close can you come to guessing this year's birdie count? How much can you raise for northern Nevada charities?
How Do I Make a Pledge?
You can make a pledge as low as $.01 per birdie or make a flat donation. After the tournament, we will send out invoices in the dollar amount relating to the number of birdies actually made at the tournament. You will also receive a tax exempt letter as your pledge is 100% tax deductible.
The Birdies for Charity® program is not yet taking place for the 2011 year. Please check back at a later time to learn more about this program and when it will get underway for 2011.
Beyond the Good Feeling, Do I Get Anything for Participating?
Yes! In addition to feeling great about supporting local charities and having the opportunity to write off your donation on your taxes, participants in the Guess-the-Birdies contest have the opportunity to win a fantastic prize.
Become Part of our Birdies Club!
Any donor who pledges either a flat donation of $1,000 or more or pledges $1.00 or more per birdie is automatically a member of the Reno-Tahoe Open Birdies Club. This elite group is recognized for their generosity and we thank them. So far, members of the Birdies Club include:
John P. Sande III
Teresa Andrepont
Thank you for your generous support of Birdies for Charity® and the Reno-Tahoe Open.
What is the GRAND PRIZE?
A 1 year lease on a 2010 Lexus IS 250, courtesy of Lexus of Reno! Lisa Stevens of Sparks is our winner of the 2010 Lexus IS-250, courtesy of Lexus of Reno! With her donation, she guessed 1966 birdies and is the closest to the final number of 1960. Her charity, The First Tee, has contacted her with the good news.
